Simpo Sans is a family of ten sans serif fonts. It's my second font design project. It's safe to say Simpo Sans has quite different features compare to my last work CHAOS. Right from the start, my ambition was to take the rounded corner elements of O,C,P and use them to make something new – a font with simple elements and features that could be used as headline and even in editorial design.

Griff is a family of sans serif typefaces with unusual stroke contrast. The ‘middle’ parts of many of the fonts’ letterforms are drawn with much thinner strokes than those found in the rest of typeface. The Griff family includes 10 styles; these are five weights that range from Light through Bold, each with an upright and italic font. The typeface is a bit humanist in style; its strokes end in horizontal or vertical cuts, rather than in diagonals. The letterforms’ counters are also mostly open. The fonts’ x-height is tall, and the lowercase letters’ ascenders rise slightly above the height of the capitals. Speaking of Griff’s capital letters, they are a bit narrower in the feeling than the lowercase. Several of Griff’s letters feature ‘vertical’ line segments that are actually slightly diagonal – in terms of draughtsmanship – which livens up text set with the fonts considerably. Griff is anything but monotonous. In its upright fonts, the ‘a’ is double-storey, while the ‘g’ is single-storey (both are single-storey in the italics). The lowercase ‘f’ has a descender in the italic fonts, too. The typeface’s diacriticals marks are streamlined in form, and they look very slick. Griff is the work of Frode Helland, a type designer from Norway. The fonts are best used in larger sizes, where their details can come clearly into view.

Veto® Sans is both highly legible and handsomely distinctive – a rare blend in a typeface. It’s a design that stands out and fits in. Veto Sans is equally competent on screen and in print. It’s four carefully determined weights in both normal and condensed proportions, each with an italic complement, give the family an exceptionally deep range of applications. All the designs in the family are valuable design tools. None are superfluous. Advertising, brand, corporate, editorial and interactive design are all in Veto Sans’ wheelhouse. It also shines in wayfinding and other signage projects. And to all these, it brings a warmth and personality. An ample x-height, open counters, vertical stroke endings and subtly condensed capital letters enable Veto Sans fonts to perform with grace in print and digital environments while being space efficient. An added benefit is that all-capital typography set in Veto Sans is not only space saving, it’s also easy to read. Drawn as a complete reimaging of his earlier Veto design, Swiss designer Marco Ganz worked to create character shapes distilled to their purest forms while maintaining a relaxed and natural demeanor. Ganz, who is also a three-dimensional artist, is acutely aware that the negative space between letters and the internal space within letters is as important as the positive shape of the letters themselves. This dynamic balance between the negative and positive aspects of character forms gives Veto Sans a sense of immediacy without looking hurried. Ganz also took great care to draw a suite of italic designs that not only complement the roman weights perfectly, but also give the family a dynamic verve. A large international character set also ensures ease of localization. “Veto Sans,” says Ganz, “is a typeface for designers that search for a new a different solution to age-old typographic challenges.”

Associate Sans is a large family of ten sans serif fonts. The typeface is perfect for use in Editorial Design. Its letters have a strong ‘American gothic’ look. This genre has been used since the early 20th-century for the design of publications, corporate identities, and even the small print in newspapers and magazines. While Associate Sans’s letterforms appear to be monolinear, this is not entirely so. Several optimal tricks have been drawn into the typeface’s letterforms to optimise them, and give them this look and feel. Like other ‘American gothics,’ Associate Sans features double-storey lowercase ‘a’ and ‘g’ letters. Each of the family’s five weights – from ExtraLight through Bold – has a companion italic font. These italics should really be called ‘obliques,’ since they use the same design language as the upright fonts; they differentiate texts set in them by their slant. Associate Sans is part of a larger ‘Associate’ type system. On FontStore, you’ll find several matching font families for this design, including Associate Slab, Associate Sans Stencil, Associate Slab Stencil, and even Associate Sans Mono. Associate Sans is designed by Jérémie Hornus and Alisa Nowak.

Crafted in the best tradition of the geometric sans-serif, Rondana is a typographic tribute to the the retro-futuristic aesthetics of the 1960s and 70s, as well as an exercise in purity of line. However, its spirit is decidedly non-bauhausian, since its strokes intentionally deviate from the dull, obvious, ruler-and-compass construction; its arcs and curves being much more complex, tending towards a slightly square shape, imbued with subtle modulations. This sums up to a more organic, flowing, extroverted personality than the one just expected from the use of plain, simple geometry. Another feature is the conscious use of non-standard shapes for many signs, that are quite legible but somewhat unexpected, such as the E, the g and the ampersand; making Rondana an excellent display face and also giving a particular flavor to the text composed in it, especially in its italic variants —which are, by the way, designer italics in their own right and not just an oblique version of the roman. Rondana comes in twelve variants comprising a wide spectrum of weights, allowing for an extremely diverse range of expression.
